Acquired: 2015 Trade, Spoodog Box Break. 2016, EBay

Fleet footed Marquise Goodwin ended his career ranked 11th on the Texas all-time receptions list with 120 catches, and 2,776 career all-purpose yards. He posted career highs in receptions (33), receiving yards (421) and all-purpose yards (888) in 2011.  Goodwin boosted his draft stock after playing in the 2013 Senior Bowl.  He had five catches for 44 yards and returned two punts for 30 yards, leading all receivers in receptions. A track man, Goodwin set numerous career records at UT, culminating in winning the long jump title at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials (27-4.25) and finishing 10th in the London Olympics. Despite his commitment to play football, Goodwin spends time actively promoting track and field in Texas.

doe13 mgoodwinSelected in the third round of the 2013 draft by the Buffalo Bills, Marquise had a decent rookie season, posting 17 receptions for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns, including a 59 yarder against the Chiefs. He also was utilized on special teams posting 16 kick returns for 351 yards. Goodwin’s career however has been marred by injury, missing 24 games in 3 seasons. Going into 2016- it was obvious that he was facing a make or break year. He responded with his best season as a pro posting 29 receptions for 431 yards and 3 TDs in 9 starts. The speed merchant also exposed Darrell Revis for an 84 yard TD.

Spoodog has met Goodwin quite a few times and had an extra Sage floating around that he threw in along with EJ Manuel for an autograph of mine that he wanted. Later I picked up this really nice Donruss Elite 2013 New Breed patch card for a bargain price.

Among the pantheon of Houston Texans runningbacks, I liked Steve Slaton only second to Domanick Davis. The dimunitive Slaton much like Davis also met his end in Houston due in part to injury.  After having his neck fused and then a shoulder injury the following season, Slaton always seemed a bit more hesitant when hitting the hole. He was also limited to 3rd down back and kick return duties, sco09 sslatonafter the emergence of Arian Foster.  The Texans facing tough decisions, released the former RotY 3 games into the 2011 season. Slaton caught on immediately with the Miami Dolphins and finished the season with the team. Steve had tryouts with other teams, and eventually ended up heading North to the CFL in 2014.

Steve signed with the Toronto Argonauts and had a decent season for the Argos logging 94 carries for 510 yards and a TD. In addition Slaton had 46 receptions for 388 yards and 4 TDs. He’d retire after the season.

At last glance in 2016, Steve is training to be a culinary chef in Houston.

Randall McDaniel quietly established himself as one of the most decorated linemen in NFL history.  Drafted by the Vikings in the first round of the 1988 draft out of Arizona State, Randall won Pro Bowl Honors from 1989-2000  and All-Pro from 1990 to 1998.  McDaniel’s consistency and well rounded game allowed him to play nearly every position on the offensive line and occasionally as a spot fullback. He finished his career playing for the Buccaneers in 2000 and 2001.

In 2006, Randall was inducted into the Vikings Ring of Honor. The accolades did not stop there for the former offensive lineman as he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009.  Since his retirement he’s worked in public schools and given back to the community.

Randall signs for fans faithfully through the mail, however he only signs cards and no more than 2 signed through the mail.
