Originally a  10th round selection of the New England Patriots during the 1988 draft, Rodney Lossow earned All Big 10 Honorable Mention as a Junior while at Wisconsin. He’d bounce around with the Los Angeles Rams and Calgary Stampeders, before being selected with the 4th pick of the 4th round during the WLAF offensive lineman draft. He’d anchor the Orlando Thunder‘s  offensive line at Center through their appearance in World Bowl II in 1992.

Rodney loves teaching and has been a coach at Roosevelt High School in Minnesota for many years. He responded in under a month and included a nice note. Apparently his kids were blown away that he got a TTM request. He also inscribed the card with a bible verse:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Humpheries, Stan

After a solid 4 years playing quarterback at Northeast Louisiana, Stan Humpheries was selected in the 6th round of the 1988 draft by the Washington Redskins. Joe Gibbs loved to groom quarterbacks so Humpheries faced serious competition from the likes of Doug Williams, Mark Rypien, and David Archer.  Humpheries made the squad but thanks to the quarterback loggerjam, did not see any action until the 1989 season in mop up duty.  In 1990,  with Doug Williams retired, Humpheries assumed the backup job behind Rypien. Stan guided the ‘Skins to a respectable 3-2 record in his absence.   Washington won the Super Bowl title in 1991 as Mark started all 16 games. Comfortable with the situation at QB, the Redskins traded Stan to the San Diego Chargers in 1992.

pset90 shumphriesThe San Diego Chargers had been in quarterback purgatory since the retirement of Dan Fouts in 1987, going through 11 starting quarterbacks.  John Friesz had become entrenched as the Chargers’ starting QB after starting all 16 games in 1991, but after a season ending knee injury in the 1992 preseason, the Chargers were in emergency mode.  San Diego dealt a 4th round (conditional 3rd rounder) for Humpheries.

pset92 shumphriesStan went on to become the Chargers most prolific passer in team history, winning 47 games, leading the team to its only Super Bowl appearance (XXIX) in 1995. He threw for 16085 yards and 85 TDs, in 16 seasons for San Diego.
Since retirement he has been selected as a member of the Chargers 50th Anniversary Team, and the Chargers Hall of Fame.

Stan has done some color commentary and has returned to coaching. In 2016 he was coaching at the University of LA- Monroe.

McKinney, Steve

Seth McKinney was the Texans first free agent signee in the history of the franchise.  The Texans had a very poor offensive line in those early years, and outside of Steve McKinney and Chester Pitts, the team could find no consistency from their other starters.  From 2002-2006, Steve started every game at center for the franchise, but in 2007 suffered a torn ACL ending his season. With new head coach Gary Kubiak installing a ZBS system, he pulled the trigger on a trade to bring Chris Myers to Houston, effectively ending McKinney’s tenure in Houston.

Originally an All-Big 12 selection from Texas A&M, Seth was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 3rd round of the 1998 draft. An All-Rookie selection, Seth played guard most of his time in Indianapolis before joining Houston in 2002. After his time in Houston, McKinney played for the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks, retiring in 2009.

A savvy businessman Seth has an eye for investments in the fast fast food industry. He was an investor with Freebirds Burritos, and owns a string of McDonalds restaurants.
