Really the credit for this success should go to Brett Reece Jr, who played for the Revolution in 2015. He brokered a deal with me for a few more custom cards of his, and in return he offered help in acquiring his offensive coordinator, Terry Glenn.

Terry Glenn is a Bill Parcells guy. The highest rated receiver taken off the board at the #7 spot by the New England Patriots. He immediately paid dividends catching passes from Drew Bledsoe and racking up a then rookie record 90 receptions, for 1,132 yards and 6TDs. Although the team reached Super Bowl XXXI, they lost to Brett Favre and the Packers 35-21. After the season, Parcells departed for greener pastures as Bill Belichick took the helm. Although Terry was still counted on to be the team’s primary receiver, his numbers became erratic. Still he recorded a career high 1,147 yards in 1999. During that period he’d also catch young Tom Brady’s first TD pass. After an injury riddled 2001 campaign, Terry was traded to the Packers for the small price of 2 4th round picks. Although he put up a respectable 817 yards receiving, Glenn found himself traded again, the the Dallas Cowboys in 2003.

Dallas at the time was a team in search of an identity. The 90’s dynasty was dead and the team was going through a transition with a familiar face in head coach Bill Parcells.   Familiar faces in the wide receiver corps were Antonio Bryant and Joey Galloway, while Tony Romo was barely scraping by as a 3rd stringer behind guys like Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, and Drew Henson. Terry played for the Cowboys over the next six seasons, recording in both 2005 and 2006 1,000+ yards receiving. Injury concerns surfaced in 2007, and his knee kept him sidelined for the whole year. He’d be cut in 2008 due to medical concerns, and retired shortly thereafter.

Bobby was considered one of the best centers in the country, playing 3 years for Pitt and a final year at Baylor. It made sense to Sign to play in the SWC since he was from Texas. Unfortunately in that final year at Baylor (1988), knee injuries sidelined him for a good portion of the season.

Undeterred, Bobby signed with the Oilers as an undrafted free agent in 1989, but was cut before the beginning of the season. Sign was definitely a WLAF candidate, and the Saints signed him in 1991 and sent him to the WLAF for experience.  The Barcelona Dragons signed him via the enhancement allocation draft.  He’d anchor down an impressive offensive line along with Barry Voorhess and Scott Adams. For the season the line only allowed 22 sacks- good for second best in the league. This allowed the team to advance all the way to World Bowl I against the London Monarchs.  Bobby returned to the WLAF for 1992, and helped the Dragons win the division. Barcelona lost in the playoffs again to the eventual champions- this time to the Sacramento Surge 17-15.

Bobby returned to the Dallas area. After a bit of detective work I found that he is working for a high end clothier and tailor of quality suits.  I sent this card to him via the store where he has built himself quite a reputation for customer service. He sent me back a nice note along with the signed card, where he told me that he was blessed to play in the WLAF and sad when the league decided to go on hiatus after the 1992 season.

Jackson, LaRoche

tntafl14 ljacksonCard: TNT AFL 2014
Acquired: 2014, Trade

A fearsome hitter and defensive back LJ  joined the Gladiators in 2013 and tallied 85 tackles and 5 interceptions in 14 games. He got a fair amount of playing time also at kick returner in 2014, and finished with 26 kick returns for 578 yards and a TD. LaRoche has had an interception for a touchdown in every season he’s been in the AFL including 2014, when he had 3 interceptions for 74 yards, 105.5 tackles, and 2 FF, helping key the Gladiators Arena Bowl run.

LaRoche went to little Clark Atlanta University, becoming a starter at DB in the second game of his freshman season.  He held on to that spot the rest of the year, finishing with four interceptions. Jackson went undrafted in 2006. He’d sign with the then Carolina Speed and was named Rookie of the Year of the AIFA in 2008. The next season he played for the Bloomington Edge of the IFL. After a brief stint with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL in 2010, LaRoche landed in the Arena Football League in 2011. He’d swim with the Sharks of Jacksonville, earning an Arena Bowl title in his first season. En route, Jackson led the Sharks with 119 tackles, recovered two fumbles, and recorded six interceptions. In 2012, he recorded 97 tackles, another four interceptions, and a forced fumble.

Great finished product and even better looking autograph, LJ really tagged this one up nice. Once I got the autographs back I thanked them through Twitter. True to the reason why I do this, I could tell that LaRoche enjoyed getting the cards as much as I did getting the autograph.

Celebrating the game, the players, the cards, and the autographs for over 25 years.
