Hunt, Cole

TCU alum Cole Hunt was an interesting name to watch for the San Antonio Commanders of the AAF in 2019. Unfortunately nagging injuries slowed his playing time. He saw action in a few games, logging 2 catches for 13 yards.

At 6’6″, 254 Cole provides nice size and blocking skills that most teams look for out of a tight end. Never logging more than 10 catches in a season, he finished with 25 receptions for 242 yards and 2 TDs, while splitting time between Rice (2014-2015) and TCU (2016-2017). After being cut by the Chargers in 2018, he’d join the Commanders for the ‘abbreviated’ Alliance football season, and quickly find a home with the Carolina Panthers in late April of 2019.

Cole did not make the roster of the Carolina Panthers, and later signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL 2020, but was placed on IR early in the season.

Facyson, Brandon

Card: Panini Contenders 2018
Acquired: 2018, Box Breaker

A redshirt-medical double major senior who specialized in medical science, Brandon Facyson played cornerback with Virginia Tech from 2013 to 2017.
He made an impressive 5 interceptions as a freshman, but injuries and teams looking away from him ensured he did not have another takeaway- outside of fumbles for the rest of his college career. Notably, in 2016 he had 11 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles, and finished his time with the Hokies with 131 total tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 5 interceptions, 39 pass deflections, 1 fumble recovery, and 3 forced fumbles. Possessing the size and football intelligence, teams were intrigued by Facyson as a situational starter in the right defensive alignment- but he’d go unselected in the 2018 NFL Draft- thanks to a series of leg injuries that impacted his college career.

Undeterred Brandon signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. He’d make the 53 based on his impressive preseason efforts, with 2 pass deflections and a pick. During the regular season he’d notch xx tackles for 2018

Congratulations to Brandon Facyson and Panini Contenders 2018 for probably the worst and most uninspiring autograph of the year. This one is absolutely terrible. Who puts just the first letter of their last name as their autograph? Not to mention it just looks slowly and lazily done. It even drops off the bottom of the sticker.

Onwualu, James

Card: Sage 2017
Acquired: 2018, Box Breaker

James Onwualu played for Notre Dame from 2013 to 2016. Originally a wide receiver, James was converted during his Freshman season in 2013. During his Senior campaign in 2016, he posted 77 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 5 pass deflections, and 3 forced fumbles. Still considered raw at the position, he’d go unselected in the 2017 NFL draft. Onwualu signed with the Los Angeles Chargers and made the team. He’d suit up in 9 games and record 8 combined tackles before being cut late in the season, and then resigned to the practice squad. James was given an injury waiver in 2018 and currently is a free agent.
