Scheu, Steven

Card: Sage 2016
Acquired: 2017, Box Breaker

Steven Scheu played college ball for Vanderbilt at tight end. Clocking in at 6’5″, 245, Scheu certainly has the size but needs to fill out his frame to be a more effective blocker. His best season came in 2014 when he posted 39 catches for 525 yards and 4 touchdowns earning him All-SEC Honors. Steven finished his career for the Commodores with 83 receptions for 933 yards and 7 touchdowns.  He’d go undrafted in 2016, but sign with the Patriots as a free agent. After being cut Scheu was later signed to the Broncos practice squad. During the 2017 preseason, Steven caught a 21 yard TD from backup Kyle Sloter, but it wouldn’t be enough to help him make the roster. Currently Steven is a free agent.

Jones, Cayleb

sage16 cjonesCard: Sage 2016 #120/250
Acquired: 2016, Hobby Box Break

The son of former Cowboys LB Robert Jones and nephew of former Saints QB Jeff Blake, Cayleb Jones played High School ball in Austin, Tx at Austin High School. The wide receiver was recruited by the University of Texas, but in the wake of the change over from Mack Brown to Charlie Strong and being charged with misdemeanor assault in 2013, Jones elected to transfer out of UT to Arizona. Jones, at 6’3″, 215 finished his college career with 130 receptions for 1,958 yards and 14 TDs. He played in all 13 of the Wildcats’ games in 2013, including a 45-37 win over New Mexico in the New Mexico Bowl.  Cayleb Jones was considered a sleeper in the 2016 NFL Draft with all the puzzle pieces of a complete receiver- that hasn’t completely put it all together yet.

After the NFL draft he signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.  He made it all the way to the final cutdowns before being released. Later in the year he signed with the Minnesota Vikings but was cut during preseason, after seeing limited time on the field dur to injury. He resigned with the squad at the end of the year on a futures contract, but was later suspended the first 4 games of 2018 for violating the league’s PED policy. He was again released by the team at the end of the preseason.

Marshall, Keith

Card: Sage 2016
Acquired:  2016, Gunderson Trade

Keith Marshall played for the Georgia Bulldogs, where he and his buddy Todd Gurley formed a one-two punch at runningback. An impressive track man with the speed to boot, Keith ran a 4.31 40 at the combine, leading all prospects.  He’d finish his 4 year stint at Georgia with 1379 yards on 253 carries and 12 TDs. His numbers would certainly have looked better if not for an ACL tear he suffered in 2013.

The Redskins selected Keith in the 7th round of the draft, intrigued by his boom/ bust potential.  A nagging elbow injury ended his 2016, and then in 2017 Keith tore his patellar tendon, bringing his season to a close before it had even begun. Still recovering from the injury the Redskins waived him with an injury settlement during the Summer of 2018.
