Boddy- Calhoun, Briean

Card: Sage 2016
Acquired: 2016, Box Breaker

Briean Boddy-Calhoun was a member of a very stout Minnesota Gopher defensive secondary.  He and Eric Murray provided one of the most solid CB combos in the nation.  BC has a pretty good resume of work with 104 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 15 pass deflections, 10 interceptions for 169 yards and a TD. Scouts liked some of his muscle memory traits with his fluid hips and solid jumping skills. They feel he will most be at home in zone or off coverage, primarily as a slot defender.

A few of the draft boards I checked out had Boddy-Calhoun going to the Texans in the 5th or 6th round, but he ended up slipping off the 2016 draft boards all together. He eventually signed a free agent contract with division rival Jacksonville, but was cut before the season.  The Browns eventually claimed him off waivers from the Jaguars.  In his debut against the Miami Dolphins in Week 3, Briean intercepted his first pass, which he returned 27 yards for a TD.  For the record, Calhoun appeared in 14 games, with 7 starts, recorded 43 tackles, a sack, 11 passes defended, and three interceptions in his rookie season. He followed his league debut in 2017 with another 13 games played (7 starts), and recorded 27 tackles, 9 assists, to go along with 6 passes defended.

Braverman, Daniel

Card: Sage 2016
Acquired: 2016, Box Breaker

Daniel Braverman was an outstanding receiver for the Broncos of Western Michigan- where he finished his final college season in 2015 with a career-high 1,367 yards and 13 touchdowns.  He was selected by the Bears in the 7th round of the 2016 NFL draft.  Expected to compete as a slot man, Braverman lacks nothing for the subtlety and skill required to play at the NFL level, but his size (5’10”, 177) may get him jammed out of plays.  He didn’t make the Bears final regular roster for the 2016 season, but was signed to their practice squad instead. The team promoted him to the regular season roster in November, but he didn’t see any substantial game action in 3 games.  In early 2018, Daniel signed a futures contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Coprich, Marshaun

Card: Sage 2016
Acquired: 2016, Box Break

Marshaun Coprich is an interesting prospect whose behavior off the field marred a solid college football career.  A productive player for ISU, Marshaun had gaudy numbers for the Redbirds, running for over 5,200 yards in his four years for the university. Unfortunately he got busted for selling marijuana, and although he was a first time offender, prospective NFL teams look down badly enough on users.  While he is small (5’8″), he clocks in at a solid 207.

Coprich was considered by teams who were looking for him to make things happen in space, to be a change of pace back on 3rd downs, or be relied upon to create mismatches splitting outside.  There have been some comparisons to guys like Darren Sproles, but scouts are a bit more conservative, saying Marshaun is more like Jacquizz Rodgers.  Going undrafted, the Indianapolis Colts took a very long and hard look at him during private workouts in the offseason, but he ended up signing with the Giants. He did not make the team and later was signed to the BC Lions practice squad.
