Bobby Dillon played for the Texas Longhorns from 1949 to 1951, earning All-American Honors. He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1952 draft, and from there etched himself into Packer lore. 3 times over his career Dillon notched 9 interceptions at Safety. In 1956 he led the NFL with 244 interception return yards. He walked away from the game in 1959, and is still the Packers all-time career leader in interceptions. He’s been inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame, and earned Pro Bowl Honors from 1955-1958.  Surprisingly Dillon has not been inducted into the Hall of Fame, even as a Seniors candidate.

Wane McGarity really came into his own in his Senior year with Texas when he recorded 58 catches for 1,087 yards and 9 touchdowns for the Longhorns. Originally a runningback, Wane suffered through knee injuries in both his Freshman and Junior years, while converting to wide receiver over his Sophomore season.

He’d be taken by the Dallas Cowboys in the 4th round of the 1999 draft.  Wane saw the majority of his time on Special Teams. His best season in the NFL came in 2000 when he had 30 punt returns for 353 yards and 2 touchdowns.  In addition Wane clocked 25 receptions for 250 yards. He split his 2001 season between the Cowboys and Saints.

He joined the CFL in 2003, playing for the Calgary Stampeders (2003-2004) primarily as a return man- earning All-Star honors. Later, in 2005 he saw limited action with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Henderson, Scott

Here’s a classic pose.  I love the look of the old school PR photos like this. If you look carefully you can even spy a crane in the background erecting one of Austin’s first ‘skyscrapers’.

Originally wanting to go to Notre Dame, the Golden Domers told Henderson he was ‘too fat’ to play for them, so he decided to go to Texas.  Scott went on to become one of Texas’ great linebackers of all-time, and was co-captain of the Longhorns 1969 and 1970 National Championship teams. Henderson ended up with 181 tackles in his college career, and earned All-American Honors in 1970.
