Arth, Tom

CARD: Hamburg Sea Devils Team Issue 2005
ACQUIRED: 2022, Private Acquisition

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Tom Arth played QB at tiny John Carroll University, throwing for 2,000 yards and 28 TDs in 1998.
  • Over four years, he’d set 18 records including passing yards (10,457) and touchdowns (49).
  • Undrafted in 2003, he’d manage to hang on to the roster of the Colts for three seasons.
  • He’d get seasoning in the NFLE with the Scottish Claymores (2004) and the Hamburg Sea Devils (2005).
  • Joined the Packers in 2006, but didn’t make the squad there or his next stop in 2007 with the Toronto Argonauts (2007).
  • Hopped over to the Arena Football League, playing for the Grand Rapids Rampage (2007) and Georgia Force (2008).
  • After returning to the college ranks, as head coach of John Carroll, Chattanooga, and Akron, most recently served as the passing game specialist of the Los Angeles Chargers (2022).

NOTES:

Tom played in the Arena Football League but it’s not clear if he didn’t start or if his stats are just unavailable.

Barnes, Rashidi

CARD: Frankfurt Galaxy Team Issue 2003
ACQUIRED: 2022, Private Acquisition

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Rashidi Barnes was a 7th round pick out of Colorado in 2000 by the Cleveland Browns.
  • Played LB and later FS for 3 years with the Buffs, recording 3 interceptions for 29 yards and a TD.
  • Played for the Browns from 2000-01, seeing a bit of playing time recording 14 tackles (7 special teams).
  • Played for the Frankfurt Galaxy in the NFLE in 2002.
  • Got playing time at FS and RCB, starting all 10 games.
  • Had a solid year with 60 total tackles, 1 forced fumbles, 4 pass deflections.
  • Signed with the Cowboys later that year in 2002, but missed the final cut.
  • Returned to the Galaxy for 2003.
  • Helped the Galaxy win World Bowl IX with a banner season, posting 4 interceptions for 60 yards, 8 pass deflections, and 48 total tackles.
  • Retired after being cut by the Redskins before the 2003 season.

McElMurry, Blaine

ACQUIRED: 2021, Private Acquisition

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Blaine McElmurry was a hard hitting FS at Montana from 1993-’96.
  • Went undrafted and was a free agent signee of the then Houston Oilers in 1997.
  • After not making the squad, played for the Packers that year.
  • Signed with the Tennessee Oilers in 1998, and finished the year on the roster of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
  • After playing in ’99 for the Jags, headed over to Europe to play for the Scottish Claymores of the NFLE in 2000.
  • While playing for the Claymores had 4 interceptions and 12 pass deflections.
  • In 2002 played for the Amsterdam Admirals.
  • Signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2002- but didn’t make the squad and subsequently retired.
  • As of 2022, is a home builder in Montana.

NOTES:

I’m interested in understanding a bit better as to why Blaine kept signing with the Oilers/Titans. Great card. Looked like quite the intimidator back in the day.
