  • After an eye injury to longtime OL Bob Kuechenberg, Roy took over FT at OG in 1984.
  • Had his finest season in 1985 and was named a Pro Bowl starter after the season.
  • Key part of OL that consistently kept the pocket clean for QB Dan Marino.
  • Started 91 of 92 contests for Dolphins after taking over at Guard.
  • Allowed to sign as a free agent with the San Fransisco 49ers in 1991 where he played through 1993 blocking up front for Joe Montana and Steve Young.

ACCOLADES:

  • Pro Bowl 1984, ’85

NOTES:

One of those linemen who just doesn’t get his due, Roy was quick and agile- a prize at Guard. He was equally adept at both blocking for the pass and on the run. Roy caught a TD from Dan Marino in the playoffs against the Bills.
