Hand, Jon

CARD: Fleer 1990
ACQUIRED: EBay, 2024
FAILURE: TTM 2022, C/o Home

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Jon Hand played college ball at Alabama where he played DL from 1982-’82.
  • A space eating and run stuffing lineman, he was selected 4th overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 1986.
  • The Colts transitioned Hand out to RDE and he responded with 82 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, 5 sacks and his only career interception.
  • His ’89 season was his finest with career highs in both tackles (85) and sacks (10.0).
  • Jon had the worst luck though in 1994, signing a new contract and then suffering a myriad of injuries.
  • Feeling buyers remorse the Colts offered Jon up in the 1995 Expansion Draft.
  • He’d go unselected and then later released.
  • Jon joined the New England Patriots in 1995- but was released prior to the season on an injury waiver due to a knee injury suffered in camp that season.

NOTES:

When I played the Colts on Tecmo Bowl back in 1988 (?) he was a decent go to player on the line. Since I didn’t have any luck with getting his autograph TTM in 2022, I went ahead and bought this one through eBay.
