Days, Synjyn

sage15 daysCard: Sage 2015
Acquired: 2015, Box Breaker

Synjyn played collegiality at Georgia Tech from 2011 to 2014.  His best year came in 2014 when he amassed 924 yards on 157 carries and 9 rushing touchdowns.  He went undrafted in the 2015, and signed a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys, but faced an uphill battle competing with the likes of Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar, and Darren McFadden for playing time.  Soon thereafter the Cowboys also added Lache Seastrunk to the loggerjam, and cut Days. Synjyn is keeping the dream alive and is continuing to train for the opportunity to continue his pro dream.

Okay- John took a lot of work to track down, because John Miller is a pretty common name. Eventually using the power of Google, cross referenced with the data off of Miller’s 3 cards, I was able to locate leads off of a networking site and sent these cards out. John was kind enough to respond, personalizing these cards, including a small note, and his business card. John apparently still keeps in touch with many of his Birmingham Fire from his days in the WLAF.  His son carries on his legacy playing at John’s Alma Mater, Michigan State.

McCarthy, Ellis

leaf12YS mccarthyCard: Leaf Young Rookies 2013
Acquired: 2013, Box Breaker

The #4 national prospect at DT and five-star recruit, Ellis McCarthy signed with UCLA after originally committing to Cal. He played as true freshman seeing action in 9 games off the bench, recording 10 tackles and a sack. In 2013, McCarthy got into the rotation and finished with 28 tackles and 2 sacks. At 6’5″, McCarthy has obvious size and athleticism working to his natural advantage, and a great first step. He’s bulked up quickly from high school going from 295 to 330. Surprisingly Ellis declared for the NFL draft as his size planted him on the draft board of a few teams, but there were lingering knee injury issues and questions about his desire to play. He’d go undrafted, sign a free agent contract with the Miami Dolphins but was later cut in July of 2015.  Currently he is a free agent.

Celebrating the game, the players, the cards, and the autographs for over 25 years.
