Hatcher, Keon

Card: Sage 2017
Acquired: 2017, Box Breaker

Considered a premiere receiver coming out of the SEC, a broken foot derailed Keon Hatcher’s aspirations for the NFL. Granted a 5th year medical redshirt, Keon returned to the lineup and led the Razorback receiving corps. He finished his 5 years with Arkansas with 130 receptions for 1866 yards and 19 TDs.  His combine results drew comparisons to former Texans receiver Jalen Strong. Hatcher was not selected in the 2017 NFL Draft. He signed as a free agent with the Oakland Raiders, and caught a spectacular pass from EJ Manuel during the preseason. Although he was cut by the Raiders, Hatcher impressed enough during camp that he was brought back to the teams’ practice squad.

Keon had an outstanding 2018 preseason, catching 3 TDs in the preseason finale. He made the roster but was cut after the first game in favor of Martavius Bryant. The Lions signed him to their practice squad about a week later, but he was released the following day. Currently Keon is a free agent.

Harper, Josh

Card: Sage Artistry 2015  (26/100)
Acquired: 2016, Box Breaker

Josh Harper played for the Bulldogs of Fresno State. I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s the water or weather up there, but the Bulldogs just produce a ton of wide receivers, regardless Josh kept the lineage alive. He first arrived on the scene at Fresno in 2011.  After two decent years, he broke out in 2013 with his first 1,000 yard season (79 receptions, 1011 yards, and 13 TDs). Despite his numbers, he was not selected in the 2015 NFL Draft. He signed as a free agent with the Oakland Raiders that year but did not make the squad. Josh signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL the following year, but was cut soon thereafter.  Currently he is a free agent.

I love these Sage Artistry cards. They do the best they can for not having any college logos or uniforms and making exciting cards out of otherwise unheralded players.

Brown, Garry

Card: Sage 2017
Acquired:  2017, Box Breaker

Garry Brown is an intriguing prospect out of little known football school University of California, Pennsylvania.  Garry brings a lot of intangibles to the table. He’s a competitive student of the game, with a lot of potential, willingness to learn, and special teams experience.

While playing for the Vulcans, Garry paced wide receivers at all NCAA levels in scoring, averaging 13 points per contest, and averaging 4th in the nation with 184.9 all-purpose yards.  His 2106 stats were truly astounding as he piled up 91 receptions for 1,475 yards and 22 TDs.  At the conclusion of the year, he earned was the Harlon Hill Trophy- the D2 equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.

While he posted some truly outstanding numbers, he faced stiff competition from a very competitive WR field in 2017.  Considered a 7th round pick or a high priority free agent, he signed after the draft with the Oakland Raiders. After he was cut he joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ practice squad, and then in 2018 signed with the Ottawa Redblacks. Currently he’s a free agent.
