Jahad Thomas played for the Temple Owls in college from 2013-2016. He began to see playing time during his Sophomore year, and then had an impressive showing in his Junior (276 carries, 1,262 yards, and 17 TDs) and Senior (207 carries, 953 yards, and 13 TDs) campaigns. He also displayed nice touch out of the backfield, catching 69 passes for 998 yards and 8 TDs over his time in Philadelphia. Considered undersized by scouts, Thomas went unselected in the 2017 NFL Draft.
He signed with the Dallas Cowboys but was cut before the preseason. He later signed with the Jets and was placed on their practice squad.
Cordrea Tankersely- Wow. How can you forget a name like that. It just says, football player. Anyway, Cordrea was selected in the 3rd round of the 2017 draft by the Miami Dolphins.
A throwback to the pure corner, Tankersely has an impressive set of wheels (4.4 combine 40 to lead all DBs), and is the man in one-on-one press coverage. The knock on him is that he doesn’t like to get his hands dirty in run support. (That’s okay. The same thing was said about Deion Sanders.) He really came alive in his final two years at Clemson. The pass covering machine blanketed receivers to the tune of 5 interceptions and 9 PBU to pace the Tigers in 2015, and 4 interceptions and 11 PBU in 2016. With a season ending injury to Tony Lippett in 2017, it appears Tankersely could be in for a bigger role in the Dolphins defense, after he impressed coaches with a solid preseason. He finished the season with 34 tackles and 7 pass breakups in 11 starts.
After a prolific high school career as a runningback, Rushel Shell III, played a year with Pitt in 2013. As a true Freshman he ran for 641 yards on 141 carries and 4 touchdowns. He transferred to West Virginia and piled up 450 carries for 2,010 yards and 20 touchdowns in 35 games. He also displayed a knack for catching the ball out of the backfield with 58 career receptions. Shell was considered undersized (5’10”, 227) for the rigors of the NFL, and was not selected in the 2017 NFL Draft. He’d sign as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers, eager to show off his physical running style. He went through minicamp, but was oft-injured, and was cut after about 6 weeks. Currently he’s a free agent.
