Quincy Enunwa played college ball for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. A dangerous TD threat, good run blocker, and Huskers team captain, Enunwa scored 12 TDs in his senior season. The biggest highlight came on a 99 yard TD reception in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl.
The Jets drafted Enunwa in the 6th round of the 2014 draft. He’s slowly worked his way off the practice squad and into the Jets lineup. A hybrid receiver that is too big to be a receiver, but too small to be a tight end, Enunwa has found a role as an H-Back in New York’s offensive scheme. In 6 starts during an interrupted 2015 campaign (due to suspension) he had 22 receptions for 315 yards. With a shorthanded receiving corps Quincy scored his first career touchdown during the 2016 opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. He finished with a career high 857 yards on 58 receptions for the Jets, scoring 4 TDs in 2016, but a preseason neck injury ended his 2017.
Colin Lockett had an intriguing college career playing at San Diego State. He began on the defensive side of the ball in 2011, and then was moved to wide receiver the following year, where Lockett hauled in 58 catches for 970 yards and eight scores. His 1,744 yards from scrimmage were second most on the team, as he made his living returning kicks as well. With another solid outing under his belt in 2012, he’d catch 20 passes for 293 yards and 2 TDs, while he’d return 35 kickoffs for a 25.9 yard average and two scores. Considered one of the nation’s true deep threats, Colin had 52 receptions for 736 yards, 5 TDs, and 31 returns for 761 yards.
He’d go unselected in the 2014 draft, but sign a free agent contract with the Bengals. He’d end up on their practice squad for a few months, but eventually be cut. Colin later found a home with the Redskins- a team he’d bounce on and off the roster of as a practice squad member through 2015. At last glance in early 2016, he was on the roster of the BC Lions, before finding free agency again.
Isaiah Crowell played one year at Georgia in 2011, racking up 850 yards on 185 carries and 5 TDs as a Freshman, but an off-season run in with the law caused him to be dismissed from the team. A month later he enrolled at Alabama St. and was the team’s leading rusher with 843 yards and 15 TDs. The following year he had career highs in virtually all categories with 170 carries for 1,121 yards and 15 TDs. Crowell graded well enough to merit as high as a 4th round pick in the 2014 draft, but perhaps due to his earlier run in with the law back in 2011, he was not selected. Instead he became a highly sought after free agent.
Eventually Isaiah signed with the Cleveland Browns. Clawing his way up the depth chart eventually supplanting Ben Tate and sharing duties with Terrance West, Crowell rushed for 607 yards and 8 TDs on 148 carries in his rookie debut. His 2015 saw small upticks across the board with 185 carries for 706 yards and 4 TDs to go along with 19 receptions. Isaiah started a full 16 game slate in 2016 and rushed for 952 yards on 198 carries, scoring 7 TDs including a league long 85 yard gallop. He also displayed a touch of the hands corralling 40 receptions for 319 yards.
As you look at Isaiah’s statistics, he continues to show pleasant upside in his young and promising career. Like a nice house in a bad neighborhood, Crowell could be a solid find (on a poor Cleveland offense) in any upcoming fantasy league going into 2017.
