  • Drafted in the 6th round of the 1987 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.
  • Played 7 seasons in the NFL.
  • Had career high 42 receptions for 617 yards and 2 TDs in rookie year, and had a 65 yard long.

  • Played final season for the Eagles, catching 3 passes.

NOTES:

There was this quiet pipeline of offensive talent that came out of SFA in the mid to late 80s and Floyd was among them alongside guys like Patrick Jackson, Todd Fowler, James Noble, and Larry Centers. While Floyd’s Pro Set 1989 is a real head turner, his Score 1991 is a pretty goofy looking shot. No wonder you don’t see very many card shots of players after they’ve been tackled to the ground.

Hester, Jessie (2)

Gameday 1992, #29

CARDS: Pro Set 1990 Update, Skybox 1992, Gameday 1992
ACQUIRED: TTM 2022, C/o Home
SENT: 7/6 RECEIVED: 12/13 (160 days)
FAILURE: 2010, C/o Home

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

NOTES:

Yes! At long last another retry reply in Jessie Hester. Jessie was one of my very first failures from way back in 2010. I thought that I had sent to him multiple times in between 2010 and 2022, but apparently I had not. He had some great cards that I appealed to, especially the classic shot of him from Pro Set’s 1990 Update. (An Action Packed 1992 and Pro Set 1991 were sacrificed to the mail gods in the previous attempt.) The Gameday and the Skybox cards over the year became particular set needs and all of them are welcome additions to the collection.

Kennedy, Lincoln

CARDS: Classic 1993, Skybox Premium 1993
ACQUIRED: TTM 2022, C/o Home
SENT: 3/14 RECEIVED: 4/2 (22 days)

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Big (6’6″, 357), man-mountain Lincoln Kennedy was an outstanding lineman for the Washington Huskies from 1988-92.
  • First team All-American in his senior campaign, earning player of the game honors 7 times that year.
  • Started originally as a defensive lineman, but was quickly moved to OL after redshirt freshman season, deployed effectively at both G and T.
  • First round pick (9th overall) of the Atlanta Falcons in 1993.
  • Had a rough transition to the NFL and by ’95 was traded to the Raiders for a 5th Round pick.
  • Moved to right tackle and solidified himself as an upper echelon player, playing for the Raiders for the next 7 seasons.
  • Joined the NFL Network in 2004 on NFL Total Access.
  • Toyed around with a comeback in 2005 with the Dallas Cowboys, but failed his physical.
  • Played in the Arena Football League for the Tampa Bay Storm from 2007-’08 and 2010.
  • Currently is in radio, working for Fox Sports.

ACCOLADES:

  • Pro Bowl 2000-02
  • All-Pro 2002
  • College Football HoF 2015

NOTES:

Kennedy was a great player who quietly flew under the radar until his retirement for me. I love his love for the sport, and how after he retired he decided to come back, so much so he opted to play in the Arena League to keep it sated.
