Casey Weldon played QB at Florida State from 1988-91.
Came into his own as a starter in his Senior season, throwing for 2527 yards and 22 TDs on 189 completions (313 attempts).
In 1992, was a 4th round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Played for the Bucs from 1993-96.
Saw limited playing time over those years, most extensively in 1995, completing 42 of 91 passes for 519 yards and a TD.
Played for the Barcelona Dragons that same year, throwing for 543 yards and 3 TDs on 41 of 91 passes.
Threw a memorable 70 yard TD pass to fellow Buccaneer Tyree Davis against the Monarchs.
Was on the roster of the Chargers (’97), and Redskins (’98-’00) but didn’t see any playtime.
Joined the XFL 2001 as a member of the Birmingham Thunderbolts.
Had best season as a pro throwing for 1228 yards and 7 TDs on 102 completions (164 attempts), but injuries ended his season and his carer.
Has gone into coaching since retirement.

NOTES:
I failed on getting Casey back in 2019. I think I flushed a Loaded Cannon card, but that’s okay. After doing some research I tracked down a good address for him and shot these two cards out earlier in 2022. I was a bit disappointed when someone else who sent to him later than me stole my thunder and got him back first, but the TTM gods granted me their favor and finally I got Casey in the mail. The Classic is a bit smeared but no big deal. It was the Topps XFL 2001 that I was truly after.
James Bostic played RB for three years at Auburn from 1991-’93.
Had a really solid ’93 campaign rushing 199 times for 1206 yards and 12 TDs.
Parlayed his performance into a 3rd round selection of the Los Angeles Rams in 1994.
Didn’t see any playing time, buried on the depth chart until being cut during training camp in ’95.
Spent ’96 on IR with the Packers and ’97 out of football.
In 1998, spent training camp with the Chiefs, then went to the practice squad of the Dolphins, before joining the Eagles roster.
Spent ’99 with the Eagles, working primarily on special teams, but still managed to gain 19 yards on 5 carries.
Out of football in 2000, reemerged in 2001 with the XFL with the Birmingham Bolts.
Ran hard for the team carrying the rock a league leading 153 times.
Had both a 50+ yard run and reception- the only player in the XFL to achieve such a feat.
Lives in Florida and works as a police officer.

NOTES:
James had 14 cards over his career. It’s interesting to note because the vast majority of them appeared in 1994 (11). Then after 6 years, he pops back up in 2001 with 3 more XFL cards. I was super eager to get James on these cards. I was pretty disappointed to send him his XFL promo card and never see that again back in 2019, little less to the same address that I saw a success from later. In the interim I had reloaded and had gotten really lucky, picking up this patch card of him that I later sent to him as well.

CAREER SNAPSHOT:
Talented athlete played for UAB in 96 and 97 converting from quarterback to wide receiver.
In his only year at WR posted 38 receptions for 823 yards and 7 TDs.
Spent majority of rookie year on Cardinals practice squad.
Opted to hone his skills in NFLE with the Scottish Claymores in 1999, posting 11 catches for 181 yards and two TDs.
Allocated to NFLE in 2000 playing for the Rhein Fire.
Led league with 12 touchdown catches.
Returned stateside in 2000 and spent the year on the practice squad of the Bills and Broncos.
In 2001 was a territorial allocation of the XFL 2001 Birmingham Bolts.
Signed with Cowboys but did not make the squad.
Opted to sign with the CFL in 2002, playing for the Ottawa Renegades, but retired due to concussions.
NOTES: Drake estimates that he suffered from at least 10 concussions over his career in football, with three being knockouts. He now suffers daily from the debilitating side effects of those head injuries, and spends his time coaching football and also improving education and awareness of concussion safety.
