Robinson, Eddie (LB) (2)

Skybox Primetime, #285

CARDS: Classic 1992, Skybox Primetime 1992
ACQUIRED: TTM 2022, C/o Alabama State
SENT: 4/11 RECEIVED: 5/31 (50 days)

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

Classic 1992, #92

NOTES:

I had gotten Eddie way, way back as a kid through the Houston Oilers, and I also believe at training camp one year. There was still 2-3 cards I still wanted to get signed by him, and I stocked a few years prior thinking I could add him during the Houston Oilers 1993 25th Anniversary party, but I am not sure if he was there.

Eddie has two cases of mistaken identity working against him. One, people think that he’s related to former Grambling HC Eddie Robinson Sr. – He is not. And two, where Eddie went to college and recently got hired as HC is at Alabama State University- not Alabama.

Although the Skybox was not my favorite card, his Oilers uniform looks beautiful on the gray canvas. It seemed to make sense to add this one to the collection alongside his Classic 92.

Gray, Quinn (2)

CARD: Frankfurt Galaxy Team Issue 2003
ACQUIRED: 2022, Private Acquisition

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

NOTES:

Just a lovely card with a simple, yet dynamic design and great photography. Quinn was one of the more recognizable names from this acquisition I made from a friend of mine- CFLFanInPhilly.

I was really touched by his willingness to part with these cards at an affordable price. He also told me that he’d been approached by college team set autograph collectors who offered to buy the cards out separately from their favorite teams, but he wanted them to go to someone who’d actually value all of them based on their appreciation of Spring Football.
