NOTES: After failing on Brock a few years ago, I went ahead and gave him another shot on these two cards. He’s enjoying life living in Arizona with his wife and two kids- that he adores and loves being a part of their lives. Recently he’s fallen back in love with football again, and watches it apparently non stop.
Played collegially at the University of Miami, FL for Jimmy Johnson.
From the defensive end position, finished as the school’s all time leading sacker with 39.5.
Also chipped in 267 tackles and 25 TFL.
Second round pick of the San Fransisco 49ers in 1988.
Utilized primarily as a pass rushing specialist, chipped in 6 sacks in rookie season.
Reunited with Jimmy Johnson in draft day trade along with RB Terrence Flagler in 1990 to play with Cowboys.
Paid immediate dividends at DE, with 59 total tackles, 7.5 sacks and 2 fumbles.
After acrimonious holdout, was passed in depth chart by Tony Tolbert and was cut during the 91 season.
Claimed by the Bengals and moved to outside linebacker for the final 7 games of the year.
Had solid season in 1992, racking up a career high 9 sacks.
After a year with the Eagles in 1995, reunited again with college and Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson to close out career.
Played 3 final seasons with Dolphins and was released in early 1999.
1990 Score Supplemental, #21T
NOTES:
I hadn’t ever gotten Danny at Cowboys training camp as he was with the team just one camp before his holdout. It was a longtime coming, but the Score Supplemental had sat in my deck for years and needed to be signed.
Oddly I got an RTS on Danny even though I had the correct address and saw other people getting back successes from him. I decided to go ahead and try again and luck had it, I got him this time. Maybe his mailbox was full. I am not sure.
Way, way back in 2010, I got Dan on a few cards care of the Lions where he was coaching. Almost immediately after gorging on four cards, I realized that there was this Pro Set 1991 MVP card that I had never gotten or recall seeing from my early days of collecting. I picked a copy up and held onto it for about 10 years before sending out to him again- just on the off chance another card I’d never seen before would appear.
In the meantime, Danny continued to build his coaching resume, working with the Bills from 2013 to 2018, and since then at his current stop with the Miami Dolphins.
Celebrating the game, the players, the cards, and the autographs for over 25 years.
