CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Played both DL and TE at Oregon.

  • 11th round pick of New York Giants in 1975.

  • Had four seasons of 10 sacks or more playing from left defensive end position.

  • Best season came perhaps in 1981, with 11 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and 2 TDs.

  • Sacked John Elway in Super Bowl XXI for a safety.

  • Incredibly durable- missed just 6 games over 14 seasons.

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Was a dominant defensive lineman playing for Notre Dame from 1966-1969 finishing 6th in Heisman voting in 1969.
  • Second overall pick of the 1970 draft by the Green Bay Packers.
  • A massive player at the time (6’5″, 290), McCoy’s overall size and strength were his greatest attributes, allowing him to clog the middle of the line.
  • Played both DT and NT.
  • Started day 1 of his rookie year and was named the team’s rookie of the year.
  • Led the team in sacks in both 1973 and 1976.
  • Played for the Raiders (1977/78), Giants (79/80) and the Detroit Lions (1980).

NOTES:

My friend Lance now goes back about 10 years. We met through Fanmail and then later hung out at Houston Fan Fest in 2012. We occasionally meet up for events, with the last one being at the Houston Roughnecks/ Tampa Bay Vipers scrimmage. He’s one of the few that gets it, and we bling each other up out of the blue, such as with this Mike McCoy autograph here.

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Khalid Abdullah was a tailback for James Madison from 2013-2016.

  • Compiled 15 100 yard games.

  • Finished second all time at JMU in rushing yards with 3678, while setting the school record for rushing TDs (41) and total touchdowns (45).

  • Was not selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, but was in camp with the New York Giants.

  • Played in the Your Call Football league for team Grit in both 2018 and 2019.

  • Selected by the Washington Defenders during the open phase of the XFL 2020 draft.

  • Ran 11 times for 52 yards, and caught 2 passes for 11 yards.

  • Best game came against LA when he carried 8 times for 47 yards and caught those two passes, but Abdullah was inactive the last two contests.

  • 2017 NCAA Division Championship (FCS) Game MVP
