CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Braedon Bowman played TE at South Alabama from 2014-15.
  • Big, strong, solid blocker caught 29 passes for 381 yards over his college career.
  • Undrafted (2016), and later signed by Jags but didn’t make roster.
  • Signed by the Jets and suited up for a few games, becoming only second player from South Alabama to play in an NFL game.
  • Spent the next two seasons on the off-season rosters of the Saints (’17) and Chargers (’18-’19).
  • Played for the Birmingham Iron of the AAF in 2019.
  • After spending early part of season on IR, caught 4 passes for 43 yards and first TD since high school.
  • After AAF collapsed, got onboard with the New Jersey Generals of the USFL in 2022.
  • Caught 12 passes for 122 yards and a TD.

NOTES:

Braedon wrote me a nice note thanking me for being a fan of the AAF and that he hopes I’m able to get as many autographs as I could.

Jim had a few cards that came out at the turn of the century that I came across. After researching possible places he lived, I took a shot at where he’s currently coaching. Jim Kubiak is not related to former coach Gary Kubiak.

Hector, Johnny (RB)

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Johnny Hector was the Jets second round draft pick out of Texas A&M during the 1983 NFL Draft.
  • From 1979-82, carried the ball 550 times for 2587 yards and 20 TDs., while also catching 67 passes for 516 yards while playing for the Aggies.
  • After a largely forgettable rookie season, Johnny had 531 yards and a TD on 124 carries in 1984.
  • Had a real nose for the endzone, rushing for 6 TDs in 1985, 8 in ’86, 11 in ’87, and 10 in ’88.
  • His 11 rushing TDs in ’87 tied for the NFL lead.
  • During the ’86 season became the first Jet to rush (117 yards) and receive (100 yards) over 100 yards in the same game.
  • Set franchise record with 40 carries the following week.
  • Ran for a career high 702 yards in 1989.
  • Retired after the 1992 NFL season.

NOTES:

A big coup for me here in Johnny. Sometimes you get this sensation, like a sixth sense that some of these long shots and dormant/ rare signers are going to pay off. Johnny was one of them, and I had thought that these cards were long gone. I was pleasantly surprised to find these three in my mailbox.
