NOTES:
I loved me those SWC Cougars! I had high hopes for Chuck’s career in the NFL. I think both the Eagles and the Bucs saw him more as a fullback though. He was a gifted receiver too, but looked like a downhill bowling ball rolling down the field. Sometimes you get this feeling that if you just reach out to some of these guys, they will respond to your personal connection, and with this one I was quite happy that he did.
I had been circling the wagons since I got The Fridge back in 2012 at the beginning of that year. I ran into these two immediate set needs that his gracefully signed. Thankfully this time he didn’t use a fading sharpie on these two gems.
Tackling machine that recorded 150+ total tackles in from 1989 to 1991 from inside linebacker position.
Led team in tackles from 1989 to 1992, and overall 8 times in career.
Recorded a career high 200 total tackles in 1994.
Possessed relentless motor, pursuit, solid instincts and quick ability to read/ react to plays as they take shape.
Over career played LILB, RILB, RLB, and MLB.
Briefly played for Philadelphia Eagles in 1997.
Returned for final season in 1998 to play for Colts.
ACCOLADES:
Ole Miss Hall of Fame 2001
SEC Football Legends Award 2013
Alabama Sports Hall of Fame 2017
NOTES:
Jeff is a cousin of actor and TV personality, Mr. T.
Jeff has some great cards and some set needs I was after so I had tried him in the past with no luck. Thanks to my friend Joe, I was able to get a solid lead and address for him. Disappointingly, as of the time of this post, Herrod, who ranks second all-time on the Colts tackle list, has not been inducted into the franchise’s Ring of Honor.
