When the XFL rebooted for 2020, the Renegades really rolled out the red carpet to push the team and the league. They had amazing pre-games with NFL guests. The week that the Roughnecks played the Renegades, Dallas had both Everson Walls and Russell Maryland.

As a season ticket to the Roughnecks I was given complementary tickets to go to a road game against the Renegades. I went and met up with an old friend of mine. It was nice to catch up.

I didn’t have Everson’s Pro Set 1989 Cowboys card which sort of flummoxed me, but at least I got him on his Action Packed set need and this really nice Pro Set 1990 update card of him in his Giants gear.

  • Quinn Early played WR at Iowa from 1984-’87.
  • He had a bursty Senior season in 1987, posting 61 receptions for 978 yards and 10 TDs- all college career highs.
  • 3rd round pick of the San Diego Chargers in 1988.
  • Over 3 seasons in San Diego, Quinn totalled 55 receptions for 739 yards and 5 touchdowns.
  • Signed with the New Orleans Saints in 1991.
  • Caught a career high 82 passes for 1,087 yards and 8 TDs in 1995.
  • Signed with the Bills in 1996.
  • Caught a career high 95 yard TD that season.
  • Had 129 receptions for 1868 yards and 10 TDs over 3 years with Buffalo.
  • Played a final season with the Jets in 1999.

NOTES:

Great autograph here from Quinn. Great mixture of loops and edges with solid placement and pressure. Nice cards to boot too! I didn’t know it but Quinn lives for the adrenaline- as he is a martial artist and stuntman in Hollywood.

Well I thought I was going to this event but my wife made me scrap my plans at the last second. In stepped in my friend Mark in a pinch. He helped me knock out Tony on my set needs and then quite a few others, that he just had extras of. He knocked out the Skybox, Pro Set, Action Packed and Fleer needs just like that.

I hadn’t gotten any cards of him in his Jets uniform, so this one was an added bonus in a time I wasn’t collecting. Topps Stadium Club’s logo was a product of the time- as the late 90s was all about looking edgy. Lol I absolutely hate it.

Tony’s Score 1990 is an oddity. He feels like an afterthought in the set as he’s the final card after all the 1990 Rookie cards.
