NOTES:

Yes! At long last another retry reply in Jessie Hester. Jessie was one of my very first failures from way back in 2010. I thought that I had sent to him multiple times in between 2010 and 2022, but apparently I had not. He had some great cards that I appealed to, especially the classic shot of him from Pro Set’s 1990 Update. (An Action Packed 1992 and Pro Set 1991 were sacrificed to the mail gods in the previous attempt.) The Gameday and the Skybox cards over the year became particular set needs and all of them are welcome additions to the collection.

Bowman, Braedon

CARDS: Topps AAF 2019 Certified, Topps AAF 2019
ACQUIRED: Box Breaker, 2019. C/o Home, 2022
SENT: 6/29 RECEIVED: 7/13 (14 days)

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Braedon Bowman played TE at South Alabama from 2014-15.
  • Big, strong, solid blocker caught 29 passes for 381 yards over his college career.
  • Undrafted (2016), and later signed by Jags but didn’t make roster.
  • Signed by the Jets and suited up for a few games, becoming only second player from South Alabama to play in an NFL game.
  • Spent the next two seasons on the off-season rosters of the Saints (’17) and Chargers (’18-’19).
  • Played for the Birmingham Iron of the AAF in 2019.
  • After spending early part of season on IR, caught 4 passes for 43 yards and first TD since high school.
  • After AAF collapsed, got onboard with the New Jersey Generals of the USFL in 2022.
  • Caught 12 passes for 122 yards and a TD.

NOTES:

Braedon wrote me a nice note thanking me for being a fan of the AAF and that he hopes I’m able to get as many autographs as I could.

Offerdahl, John (2)

Action Packed 1990, #147

CARD: Action Packed 1990
ACQUIRED: TTM 2022, C/o Home
SENT: 5/31 RECEIVED: 6/9 (9 days)

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

NOTES:

Well I decided to give John a shot asking him to sign two cards for me, but playing true to form he only signed one. No big deal. The Action Packed card has become a set need over the years. I’ll try the Fleer 90 in another 10 years, I guess. John’s autograph remains solid after all these years and looks great on this card.
