CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Over 5 years, Chris McLemore split time with Colorado (1982/83) and Arizona (1985/86).
  • Finished his college career with 908 yards on 212 carries, rumbling for 11 TDs.
  • While compiling the bulk of his catches in 82, Chris also had 61 career receptions for 481 yards and a TD.
  • 11th round selection of the Los Angeles Raiders in 1987.
  • Cut by Raiders after 3 contests, he then saw action in 2 starts for the Colts, rushing for 58 yards on 17 carries.
  • Was on the roster of the LA Raiders for an additional 7 contests in 1988. 
  • Appeared in the World League in 1992 playing for the New York/New Jersey Knights.
  • Rushed for 230 yards on 50 carries for the Knights.
  • Also turned a screen pass against the Galaxy into a 67 yard TD.

NOTES:

I had failed on Chris way back in 2017 using his old address. I had the envelope sitting around and found a new address recently and decided to give him a try. I thought that the NY/NJ Ultimate 1992 team stats card, had him pictured on the front. It is clearly someone with a 20, but he told me it looked like a 5- and did not sign it.

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Played for the Fightin’ Illini from 1985 to 1989.
  • Catching passes from QB Jeff George, had a career high 38 receptions for 523 yards and 2 TDs in 1988.
  • Followed that up in 1989 with 34 more receptions for 458 yards and 5 TDs, and was Illinois’ primary punt returner posting 35 returns for 334 yards.
  • Originally selected by the CFL Ottawa Rough Riders in 1990.
  • Played WR for the Montreal Machine of the WLAF in 91/92.
  • In 91 caught 4 passes for 81 yards (53 yard long), returned one punt for 6 yards, and attempted a pass.

NOTES:

Steve wrote me a very nice note, thanking me for the autograph request and asking for additional cards, since he hadn’t seen this one in quite sometime. He has a great autograph, and the silver sharpie is a nice touch.

Against the San Antonio Riders in Week 8 of the 91 season- he had an improbably long, juggling TD catch, but it unfortunately was called back, because he got pushed out of bounds and came back in.
