NOTES:

After I got Bruce a few years ago, I remember opening up a box searching for another player and saying, “uggggghhhh…”, After I realized that I had a beautiful Skybox card of him that I wanted to have him sign. I set it aside and waited patiently hoping he’d still be a good signer when the time would come around again.

As the pandemic set in, I started really developing and formalizing a lot of set needs. I used to like to just pick and choose action shots and pretty cards to send to players, but now I’ve become more directed, as all four of these sets became set needs after COVID came and supposedly went.

Dixon, Floyd

  • Played at SFA from 1982-85 at WR.
  • Had 2661 yards receiving and 26 TD catches and returned punts as well.
  • Drafted in the 6th round of the 1987 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.
  • Played 7 seasons in the NFL.
  • Had career high 42 receptions for 617 yards and 2 TDs in rookie year, and had a 65 yard long.
  • Posted 36 catches in 1988- with 5 of them going for TDs.
  • Played final season for the Eagles, catching 3 passes.

ACCOLADES:

  • Gulf All-Star Conference First Team Honors 1986
  • SFA Hall of Fame 2021

NOTES:

There was this quiet pipeline of offensive talent that came out of SFA in the mid to late 80s and Floyd was among them alongside guys like Patrick Jackson, Todd Fowler, James Noble, and Larry Centers. While Floyd’s Pro Set 1989 is a real head turner, his Score 1991 is a pretty goofy looking shot. No wonder you don’t see very many card shots of players after they’ve been tackled to the ground.
