CAREER SNAPSHOT:
- Chris Carter played Safety for the University of Texas from 1993-’96.
- He intercepted 13 passes for a school record 261 yards over his time in Austin.
- Selected in the 3rd round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
- Didn’t see significant playing time as a starter until 1999.
- Started a career high 15 contests and had 70 total tackles, a sack, 2 fumble recoveries, and 3 interceptions.
- Signed with Bengals in 2000, and posted 66 total tackles, a sack, a pick, and 2 forced fumbles in 10 starts.
- Only a situational starter in 2001 with 4 starts, but still managed 59 total tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, and a pick.
- Played a final season in 2002 with the expansion Houston Texans.
NOTES:
Chris has a great autograph! I had forgotten he was one of the first Longhorns to play for the Texans during their inaugural season in 2002. He’s got a few cards floating around in the wild. I may try him at some point.
He had a quiet NFL career, but ended up dressing for 92 contests, starting 29 over 6 years.
