  • Gregory Spann played WR for Jackson State from 1991-95.
  • Was a 7th round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1996.
  • Signed by the Minnesota Vikings and allocated to NFL Europe.
  • Joined the NFLE in 2000 catching 3 passes for 36 yards with the Galaxy.
  • After playing for the Orlando Rage of the XFL that next season, he’d quickly join the Arena Football League.
  • Played in 2001 and ’02 with the Tampa Bay Storm.

Morgan, Tim

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Left footed Tim Morgan, did double duty as K and P at San Jose St, and was named a first-team All-WAC punter.
  • Wasn’t selected in the 2000 NFL Draft, but spent time in camp with the Cincinnati Bengals.
  • Signed by the Packers in 2002 and allocated to the NFLE.
  • Joined the Frankfurt Galaxy in 2003.
  • In week 2 of the season punted 7 times for a 42.1 yard average (58 yard long), and recovered an onside kick, in a 17-13 win over the Scottish Claymores.
  • On the season, Tim dropped 9 punts inside the 20, and had 4 touchbacks.
  • Returned stateside and was cut by Packers at the end of camp.
  • Saw time in camp in 2004 with the Jets as well, but didn’t make roster.

Lira, Hugo

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Hugo Lira played gridiron football in Mexico growing up and through college as a runningback at UDLAP from 1998-2002.
  • Joined the NFLE with the Frankfurt Galaxy in 2003 where he was converted to WR.
  • He also spent time on special teams, returning one kick for 33 yards in 2004.
  • Saw the most action in 2005 as a member of the Berlin Thunder.
  • Caught 3 passes for 24 yards, returned 11 kicks for 248 yards, and posted 5 special teams tackles.
  • Spent preseason with the Carolina Panthers in 2005 and was part of final cutdowns.
  • Returned to Mexico and began climbing up the coaching ranks.
  • Spent time at UVM Querétaro (2005–2006), ITESM CEM (2007–2011), ITESM Puebla (2012–2021), and currently is head coach of ITESM CCM (2022–present).
  • Worked with the Mexican squad for the World University American Football Championship helping them earn gold in 2014, ’16, and ’18.
