A second round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles out of NC State, Jesse Campbell was a 3 year starter and 1st Team All ACC Member for the Wolfpack, notching 7 interceptions, 187 tackles, and 5 sacks over his career.  A fearsome hitter, Campbell also forced an impressive 15 fumbles punishing receivers and runners alike with a linebacker’s abandon.   He’d sustain a knee cartilage injury before making it to the regular season and spend his first season on IR.

In 1992 the Eagles were going in a new direction under head coach Rich Kotite and defensive coordinator Bud Carson. While Campbell was given ample time to impress in camp, it became a numbers game, and Carson’s defense requires safeties that can cover and places a premium on cornerbacks. Jesse was cut when the Eagles opted to resign corner Eric Allen.  He’d sign with the rival New York Giants and push his way into a starting job by 1994.  Campbell played with the Giants through 1996, before finishing out his career with the Redskins over the next two years, retiring in 1999.

He’s dabbled in coaching and is currently involved in school administration.

Lewis, Greg (RB)

As a Junior, Greg Lewis worked his way into the starting lineup for the Washington Huskies in 1989. He’d rush for 1,100 yards and 10 TDs, earning 1,450 total yards from scrimmage. He’d top his previous efforts in 1990, with 1,256 yards rushing and 345 yards receiving- earning him First Team All-American Honors and winning the first Doak Walker Award given annually to the best college running back. Lewis’ stock slipped however, and he would not be taken until the 5th round of the 1991 draft, because of a poor 40 showing.

The Denver Broncos felt Greg fit into their offensive system. Overall he’d have 376 yards and 4 TDs his rookie year, including  119 yards in the Broncos 20-13 victory over the Steelers. In 1992, Greg followed his rookie campaign up with 268 yards and another 4 TDs. (Note that in Greg’s rookie season he wore the number 41 and in 1992 he wore number 20.) Greg unfortunately had a reoccurring knee injury and was forced to retire after the 1993 season.

He returned to his Alma Mater where he is an ambassador for the Huskies and involved in administration at the school- and enjoys coaching as well.

Reggie Johnson appeared on the NFL scene quietly in 1991.  He finished his college career at Florida State with 52 receptions for 544 yards and a 10.5 yard average.  Johnson was the first tight end taken off the board at number 32 overall. He caught his first touchdown (since High School) in his first professional game against the Bengals in 1991.  It took another 30 games for him to catch another- in the season finale against the Chiefs in 1992. Reggie recorded a career high 20 receptions for 243 yards and a TD in 1993. He was cut by the Broncos due to the salary cap in 1994, and briefly was picked up by the Bengals. Over those next four seasons, Johnson played for the Packers (1994), Eagles (1995), Chiefs (1996), and Packers (1997) again before retiring. Over his career, Reggie was known as a good special teams player and goal line blocker. He returned briefly to play football  for the XFL Birmingham Thunderbolts in 2001.
