Dixon, Ahmad

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Ahmad Dixon played college ball at Baylor from 2010-’14 at defensive back.
  • Over his college careers with the Bears, he had 288 combined tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 9 pass deflections, and 4 picks for 72 yard and a TD.
  • Selected in the 7th round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.
  • Signed to the Vikings practice squad, and then to the Bears active roster during the 2014 season.
  • Had 5 special teams tackles and a fumble recovery for the Bears.
  • Signed by the Dolphins and quickly cut, Dixon ended the year back on the Vikings and was cut in 2015
  • Dixon tried his hand in the CFL and appeared in one game for the Edmonton Eskimos in 2017.
  • Played for the South team of The Spring League in 2018.
  • Resigned with the Esks that year but was released in final cut downs.
  • Drafted by the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL 2020 during the 6th round.
  • Before COVID ended the season, Dixon had 44 tackles in 4 games for LA.
  • Joined the Massachusetts Pirates of the IFL in 2021, posting 49 tackles, 4 pass breakups, an interception and a sack.
  • Played for the Philadelphia Stars in 2022, and started 9 contests, recording 41 total tackles, 1 pass deflections, 1 pick, and 2 forced fumbles.
  • Signed with the Pirates again for 2023 but did not make the squad.

NOTES:

This card is an uncorrected error. Topps accidentally spelled Ahmad’s name, ‘Ahmed’. Cheap certified autographed cards for my favorite sets are a no brainier through eBay.

Brady, Latarius

CARD: Topps AAF 2019 Hack

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • A home grown product, Latarius Brady played college ball at the University of Memphis from 2013-’16.
  • After joining the school as an OL, he played TE as a Freshman.
  • He then moved to DE where he played the following two seasons.
  • Latarius played in 38 consecutive games before he suffered a torn ACL in Spring drills his Senior season.
  • He’d recover in time to see action at both DT and DE in 8 contests.
  • Over his time in Memphis, Latarius put together 64 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 2 pass deflections, and 2 forced fumbles.
  • Undrafted and keeping the dream alive, Latarius went to work teaching physical education and coaching DL at a local high school.
  • In 2019, he attended an open tryout, and signed with the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football.
  • He posted 8 total tackles, and a sack in 4 starts.
  • After the league terminated operations he saw time in the XFL 20 with the Los Angeles Wildcats.
  • His best game came against the NY Guardians, when he posted 3 total tackles, and .5 sacks in a 17-14 loss.
  • As of 2025, he’s diligently working his way up the college coaching ranks.

NOTES:

I contacted Latarius through Twitter and he gleefully responded and signed this card in exchange for a few extras. I was still refining my style at this point on the card and quality, so I may revisit him at a future date with a nicer looking version of this card.

Pinkins, Eric

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Eric Pinkins was a hybrid DB/LB at San Diego State from 2009-’13.
  • He finished with 172 total tackles, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 5 pass deflections, and 3 interceptions for 70 yards and a TD over 4 years with the Aztecs.
  • 6th round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2014.
  • After 2 seasons with the Seahawks, he joined the Giants for 2016.
  • Waived by the Giants in mid-2017, Eric signed with the Cowboys in 2018, but did not make the squad.
  • In 2019, Eric played for the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football where the team decided to play him as a hybrid LB/S.
  • He started 6 of 8 contests, posting 29 total tackles and .5 sacks.
  • After the AAF ended, Pinkins was selected by the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL in 2020.
  • He’d finish the season on the roster of ‘Team 9’ before the COVID abbreviated season ended.

NOTES:

After the AAF collapsed, I rushed out a few cards to players that I could readily find through the mail. Eric was in that first batch, and then proceeded to get lost in the shuffle of all my returns that year. There is no discoloration in the Topps AAF base card he autographed. It looks like he started in purple and realized it wouldn’t take as well as blue. I really appreciate his effort there though.
