CARD: All World CFL 1991
ACQUIRED: TTM 2021, C/o Home
SENT: 7/8/21 RECEIVED: 9/18/23 (802 days)

  • After playing defensive back at Western Kentucky, Carl Brazley would go unselected in the 1980 NFL Draft.
  • He joined the CFL where he went on to have a banner career, playing 13 seasons in the league.
  • Brazley was a free agent signee by the Montreal Alouettes in 1980, seeing action in 4 contests.
  • He’d be claimed off of waivers partway through the ’81 season by the Ottawa Rough Riders.
  • Saw measured growth in 1982, recording 4 picks and a fumble recovery.
  • After a cup of coffee with the Bills in ’83, returned to the CFL, joining the Toronto Argonauts.
  • From 1983-’92 established himself as a lethal defender in the secondary.
  • Recorded 20 picks over 3 seasons (’84-’86).
  • Played briefly for the Chargers in ’87 as a replacement player before returning again to the CFL.
  • Also was used on special teams as a returnman.
  • Had a 108 yard return of a missed field goal in 1990.

  • CFL All-Star (1982-’86)
  • 1983 Grey Cup MVP (Defense)

Had sorta given up on this one that was a shot in the dark, but was pleasantly surprised to see this one bounce back to me in a bit over 800 days.

Artis-Payne, Cameron (2)

CARD: Tops XFL 2020
ACQUIRED: 2020, Box Break

  • See Also Cameron Artis-Payne
  • Cameron played sparingly for the Panthers through the 2019 campaign.
  • He’d be selected by the Dallas Renegades of the XFL 2020.
  • Artis-Payne worked his way into the starter role rushing for 241 yards (41 carries), 2 TDs, as well as 23 receptions for 101 yards before the league folded.
  • In 2021, he signed with the Montreal Alouettes.
  • Rushed for 225 yards on 45 carries and a TD in 5 contests.

When Cameron was selected by the Renegades, I knew they were getting a great change of pace back. I was equally surprised that he was available to the XFL based on his previous light NFL experience.

Palmer, Tobias

Topps AAF 2019, #81

CARD: Topps AAF 2019
ACQUIRED: TTM 2020, C/o Home
SENT: 11/25/20 RECEIVED: 1/29/21 (65 days)

  • Played WR at NC State in 2011 and 2012.
  • In Senior year, posted 54 catches for 781 yards and 6 TDs.
  • Was also a monster on KRs, returning 44 kicks for 1124 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jaguars after the 2013 NFL Draft.
  • Spent time on and off the franchise’s roster and practice squad, eventually landing on the Chargers.
  • After being released in 2014, Palmer was on and off the rosters of the Saints (14), Bills (15), Steelers (16), and Panthers (16).
  • Then it was off to the CFL with the Alouettes (17), and Argonauts (18).
  • In 2019, Tobias made the squad of the Birmingham Iron of the AAF.
  • On 20 targets, he’d catch 13 passes for 129 yards.
  • His best game came against the Apollos in Week 5, when he caught 5 passes for 36 yards.

Topps did a really good job with this set. Lots of interesting names in here. Based on how the card companies were really swarming the rookie market in 2011, it was surprising that nobody- even Sage- had a card on Palmer, until this card came out in 2019.
