NOTES:
A big coup for me here in Johnny. Sometimes you get this sensation, like a sixth sense that some of these long shots and dormant/ rare signers are going to pay off. Johnny was one of them, and I had thought that these cards were long gone. I was pleasantly surprised to find these three in my mailbox.
Well I thought after training camp and cleaning up at HEB a few years ago in San Antonio I was done with Robert Jones, but then I realized I glaringly missed his Skybox 1992 card; An absolutely glorious card catching him in his college duds. As of 2022, the 1993 Skybox Premium or ‘Colors’ set has become a big draw to me, especially based on how it looks. I just love how these cards are designed. With this I’m probably done with Robert, all though I wouldn’t be surprised if I missed a Classic 92 blister card or something out there I still wanted to get him to sign.
Chased the Upper Deck Legends Marquee Matchup 1997 cards while I could. It’s a great subset, but since- to me- it requires both players to be alive and reasonably obtainable, it’s a bit hard to complete out. This one was a potshot as Steve Largent started signing again, so I was able to get him first and then reload and get Charlie with this Crown Royale card. I like the CR card because the bottom half of the canvas feels like it was deliberately left blank, so an autograph only feels natural there.
Celebrating the game, the players, the cards, and the autographs for over 25 years.
