CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Buck Gurley played DT for the Florida Gators from 1997-00.
  • Going unselected in the 2001 NFL Draft, he signed with the Miami Dolphins but didn’t make the squad.
  • He’d spend a few days with the Bears on their practice squad eventually ending up on the Buccaneers in 2002.
  • Buck suited up for 8 contests for the team, winning a Super Bowl ring after the season.
  • The Buccaneers allocated Gurley to the Frankfurt Galaxy of the NFLE after the season.
  • He’d play the next 4 years in the Arena Football League for the Predators (2004-05), Storm (’06) and the Rampage (’07).
  • Currently is coaching at the High School level.

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • RB Aaron Stecker started his college career at Wisconsin in ’95.
  • After Ron Dayne sucked all the wind out of the RB room- Stecker transferred to Western Illinois in ’97.
  • Stecker ran wild at Western Illinois Stecker finishing as the school’s all-time leading rusher with 3,799 yards (since surpassed).
  • Going undrafted in ’99 he’d be cut in camp with the Bears.
  • Stecker was signed in 2000 by the Bucs and allocated to NFLE.
  • He’d go on to have over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and 11 TDs playing for the Scottish Claymores.
  • The Bucs liked what they saw so much, Stecker made the team’s roster and contributed on special teams and as a 3rd down back.
  • In 2004, Stecker signed with New Orleans’ crowded backfield, playing 3 seasons and starting 7 contests.
  • After his stint concluded with the Saints, Aaron played for the Falcons in 2009.
  • Tried out for the Packers in 2010 but was not signed.

Banks, Antonio

CAREER SNAPSHOT:

  • Antonio Banks played CB at Virginia Tech from 1993-’95.
  • A ballhawk, Banks posted 14 picks for 312 yards over his time playing for the Hokies, including 9 picks for 171 yards in 1996.
  • 4th round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 1997.
  • Saw action in 24 contests over 3 seasons (’98-’00) primarily at S.
  • Played in the CFL in 1998 for the Blue Bombers.
  • Took two stints in the NFLE playing for the Admirals (’98), Galaxy (’00), and then back to the Admirals (’00-’01).
  • Had probably a CB NFLE single season, if not career positional record 5.5 sacks for Amsterdam in 2000.
  • Played in the CFL for the Alouettes (’02) and Blue Bombers (’03).
  • Has pursued coaching since retirement, taking his skills all over the world as an ambassador of the sport and back to America.
  • Coached for the Alphen Eagles (Netherlands, ’06), and then in Cairo (!!!) for the Bears (2016-’17), then back to the states working for IMG, and also as a Secondary Coach for the Generals of the USFL (2022-’23).

NOTES:

Antonio has really parlayed his NFL career into a literally well travelled coaching career. I mean Cairo- talking football? I know it was a big culture shock but still. That’s pretty impressive.
