Chased the Upper Deck Legends Marquee Matchup 1997 cards while I could. It’s a great subset, but since- to me- it requires both players to be alive and reasonably obtainable, it’s a bit hard to complete out. This one was a potshot as Steve Largent started signing again, so I was able to get him first and then reload and get Charlie with this Crown Royale card. I like the CR card because the bottom half of the canvas feels like it was deliberately left blank, so an autograph only feels natural there.
I’ve been digging deep into the Topps XFL 2001 set recently, and when I saw that Big Saab was signing TTM all of a sudden, I quickly dropped these cards in the mail to him.
I sometimes send out 5 or 6 requests at a time and I accidentally sent out Big Saab’s envelope without it being prepped. I felt like such an idiot opening up my PO Box and finding the empty envelope inside. Luckily I had only flushed a GameDay 1992 card and had a duplicate on hand to reload with.
A hybrid linebacker/safety, Proctor was right at home playing in the role, where he helped the Surge win World Bowl II.
Played in 1993 for the Sacramento Gold Miners.
Signed with the San Diego Chargers in 1995, before heading over to the Arena Football League in 1996.
Played 9 seasons of Arena ball at LB/RB, starting with Connecticut and Florida in 1996.
Then one year stops with New Jersey, Grand Rapids, Iowa, and New York through 2001.
Spent final 3 years of football career (2002-2004) playing for the Tampa Bay Storm.
Has been a lightning rod of controversy, thanks to legal issues.
NOTES:
Well there’s a first for everything. I struggled to find Basil even going so far as to looking for him through an offender database. I received the card back damaged and signed on the back, so I’ll take what I can get especially after throwing up a hail mary at the address I found.
